It is January 4, 2019 and this is our first full day at sea. We had some time to explore the Viking Sun after getting most items stored in our stateroom.
Really like our stateroom – spacious with plenty of storage. Also like the balcony.
Made great use of the walking track with 20,970 steps today. The walking track goes under the shore boats and life boats.
Also a nice view aft from the walking track. We make lots of bubbles.
Already a favorite spot is the Explorer’s Bar and Lounge. Right at the bow, with great reading areas, a full bar, and a snack bar.
Every explorer should know where he’s been.
What a great lounge.
Lots of great seating for doing whatever.
A great view forward.
It has two levels with these nifty stairs between.
And of course, one can order refreshments.
We had dinner in the main dining room and met two nice couples. Lee and Martha are from NC and own 7 hotels in the Hilton chain. John and Gayle are from Dallas and are retired cotton farmers. No end of interesting people to talk to during this trip.
We rounded out the day with a ventriloquist act.
His dummy – NoseWorthy – was quite funny.
Big travel day for us. Up at 2:15 am (yikes) for a direct flight GRR to MIA at 5:00 am. Fortunately, everything went great. We arrived on time in Miami and got to the ship by 10:30 am. Great transfer service by Viking. Grabbed some welcome champagne and checked out the great view from the ship.
We were thankful that everything went so well on the trip to the Viking Sun, and that all our bags arrived on time and undamaged as a big plus.
By the way, at least two of those bags are not ours.
Found a young lady on the ship to hang out with.
It was a long day, but we did some initial exploring on the boat.
This infinity pool will require use.
Saw the bottom of the life boats while traversing the walking track.
And finally, we attended the
mandatory and “exciting” safety briefing.
Working on the web-site. Trying different things.
Boat watching from our slip in Grand Haven. The Black Pearl passes by.
